XR and synthetic media technologies will make it possible to generate new and more insidious forms of propaganda and misinformation. The only way to address the problem is to understand what is possible. This talk will scratch the surface of what is possible, and try to explore the political and social implications of computational propaganda to imagine the worst, and plan for the fight. It will consider how various technology developments may create new opportunities for bad actors, and what those concerned with advancing the health of the public discourse must do to prepare.
